Easy Tres Leches Cake

In the mood for tres leches cake? Look no further than this recipe! A quick and easy way to make this moist and delicious cake.

I love tres leches cake, a decadent and super moist cake that soaks in three types of milk. Growing up, I would only have it in certain restaurants and it was never in my local grocery stores. It wasn’t until recently that I decided to give it a try, and to my surprise, it was easier than I thought to make. Using a pre-made cake mix, all I had to do then was to create the milk mixture out of the three kinds of milk, soak the cake and decorate it. This cake can be made right before guests come or before heading out to a potluck, it is quick and easy and a wonderful treat to share with family and friends.

Ingredients

  • 1 box mix of cake (preferably vanilla, or plain cake mix)
  • 1 can of evaporated milk
  • 1 can of coconut milk
  • 1 can of evaporated milk
  • Whipped cream (for decoration)
  • Cinnamon
  • Berries (optional)
  • Ice cream (optional)

Directions

  1. Make the cake mixture following the directions on the box.
  2. In the meantime you can mix all of the milks together. Mix them all together and set aside for later.
  3. Once the cake is done and has cooled down, grab a chopstick or a fork and start poking holes in the cake for the milk mixture to steep through.
  4. Pour the milk mixture over the cake, making sure to cover the whole cake. I did this in two batches, once the first layer had soaked in, I went back for another one. I did not use all of the milk mixture as I was unsure how much to use. The amount of milk you put into your cake is up to you, I like my tresh leches soft and moist but not too mushy.
  5. Once the second layer of milk has soaked in, add whipped cream on top of the cake and add sprinkles of cinnamon to the top for extra taste.
  6. Lastly, keep the cake in the fridge until ready to serve. You can add other ingredients such as ice cream or berries to serve with, enjoy!
