Spooky Skeleton Cat Cookies

Another spooky Halloween treat to bring that will have everyone wanting a piece of what you got. This is not as quick and easy as the previous Halloween recipe, Mummy Brownies. But dedicate a little bit more time to decorate in detail, and your cookies will be the talk of the party!

What you Need:

  • Premade sugar cookie dough mix
  • Any cat shaped cookie cutter
  • Food coloring – it is hard to get a dark enough shade as when mixing together with a lighter base tends to produce the color grey instead of black unless using a special type of colorant (such as the powder that was included in this kit). To work around this obstacle, one can substitute the base color of the cat to that of their choice. Mixing red and blue creates purple which would be lovely, likewise doing a plain green one can create franken cats. Orange cats would be a great fall/ pumpkin edition! Play around with different combos to create your desired cats!
  • White frosting for the skeleton details (you can also use other colors like purple, orange and/ or green)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to temperature as directed on the can.
  2. Open the remade cookie dough, roll out the dough til nice and even, not too think but also not too thick.
  3. Using as much as the dough as possible, cut out as many cats as you can. Bake in oven for however long as instructed.
  4. Once cooled, grab your icing and start piping skeleton details, get creative! Tip: if you want to create a more detailed skeleton bone outline, try using a very fine tip as it will be easier to achieve smaller details.
  5. All done, now you and your skeleton cats can go party!

Let me know if you try out this fun Halloween treat, I would love to see your cookie cat designs! Happy treats day! You can also make skeleton people, as you can see in the picture below I had some extra dough and decided to make a skeleton person by shaping the dough free handed. But feel free to use a gingerbread person cookie cutter to make it easier for you.
